What are “ecogenomic sensors?” A review and thoughts for the future
by C.A. Scholin
In this paper, just published by the Ocean Science journal, Chris Scholin describes his vision for how autonomous detections systems, such as the Spyglass ESP System, can be deployed globally as “ecogenomic sensors” to advance the state of oceanographic research and to monitor water quality. Chris draws parallels between these on-site analytical platforms and point-of-care diagnostics systems developed for the medical field. As the inventor of the ESP technology, Chris has dedicated nearly two decades of his career to refining the technology and proving its effectiveness in the harshest ocean environments.
